About Kevin
Kevin Murdoch currently lives in South Oak Bay with his wife, Elizabeth, their two young children, and their cat and dog. His favourite places in Oak Bay include McNeil Bay at low tide, Anderson (Blueberry) Hill, Uplands Park, Walbran Park Cairn, Estevan Village, Oak Bay Village, and the many small gourmet eateries hidden in our neighbourhoods. This section provides a short biography of Kevin and how he has ended up looking to serve on Oak Bay Council.

Kevin was born at the Jubilee Hospital in the fall of 1969, the second of two children. He grew up mostly in small towns up and down the BC coast between Victoria and Prince Rupert, returning to Victoria to visit grandparents every summer and Christmas; he also spent a year sailing the east and west coasts of North and Central America. Kevin moved back to Victoria with his family as a teenager, attending Oak Bay High School.

After graduating with Honours from Oak Bay High (majors in Math and Fine Art), Kevin travelled and worked for three years before attending the University of Victoria via Camosun College, studying various liberal arts and science subjects before entering the Computer Engineering program (an innovative B.Eng program at the University which combines Electrical Engineering courses with Computer Science curriculum).
After University, Kevin moved to Vancouver to develop his career, working for a number of high-tech companies like Cisco, US Robotics, and 3Com before spending the last decade building a network integration business unit for a national IT company. Over this time, Kevin has built his business from nothing to a still-expanding business with annual revenue exceeding $12M. While in Vancouver, Kevin met his wife, Elizabeth, and a little over 6 years ago they moved to Oak Bay to raise a family. Throughout his professional life, Kevin has been active in supporting numerous charities such as BC Children’s Hospital and anti-homelessness initiatives. Kevin is a board member of the Queenswood Montessori Society / St. Christopher's Montessori School (Early Childhood Education).
Kevin and Elizabeth have a son, 4, and daughter, 21 months. Kevin’s parents still live in Oak Bay in the original Murdoch family home. Elizabeth serves all of Vancouver Island as a cardiologist at the Jubilee Hospital. Some interesting family-community trivia include the fact Kevin’s grandfather, George Murdoch, was elected to Oak Bay Council in 1946, serving as councillor until 1957, then as Reeve (Mayor) until he retired. In an odd coincidence, George’s children were also 4 and 1 at the time he first served for Oak Bay council.
Kevin Murdoch is running for Council because he believes Oak Bay is a rare jewel that can be even greater with some vision, reason, and hard work. He would like to leave a community even better than today for his children - and their children - to enjoy, much like his grandfather did. He has adjusted his work responsibilities to allow him to dedicate time to Council work, and put his time, energy, creativity, and experience to work for his community.
Kevin’s interests include triathlons, golf, distance running, cooking, scuba diving, and travel, although time with the family seems to trump all of these most days.
